track days

oh and we're off to the eternal city......

in less than 48 hours we will be in italy for our roman holiday. i still can't believe that after fantasizing about visiting for so long, and then the anticipation leading up to now that we're REALLY going to roma!just typing the words brings a big ole smile to my face.

recently my husband participated in a track day - an opportunity to race motorcycles on a professional race track. my husband's love of operating fast machines extends beyond flying airplanes it also includes motorcycles. last year i even rode on the bike with him a couple of times and - gulp - enjoyed it.

granted flying down the motorway at 90mph while gripping your arms around  your husband's waist, unable to turn your head because the wind is so strong, isn't necessarily fun, the other bits - including tooling around quaint villages - made risking life and limb worth it!

i digress. the track day took place at Rockingham Raceway in Corby. the conditions were not ideal and the track was slick. our good friend crashed and broke his arm. a few years ago my husband broke his arm while racing dirt bikes. in spite of his proclivity for going fast, barry is very cautious and does not take unnecessary risks. of course, as his wife it is incredibly nerve wracking. but just as he supports and encourages my passions, i want to do the same for him - even if makes me a nervous wreck. thankfully our friend wasn't hurt more seriously. they have already started planning the next track day. sigh.
