the colosseum, forum and palentine
well i did it a again. i went and fell in love with another city (and ticked off another destination on my bucket travel list). i swear this time its different though, its not just any city, its rome after all. never have i been surrounded by so much beauty, history and culture! whether it was the ancient ruins, classic architecture, delightful family run trattorias, the beautiful piazzas or the rhythmical italian language - there was so much to take in, to experience. to share this experience with my husband was so special. i have always been enamored with the italian culture, particularly their regional cuisines, as demonstrated by ridiculous consumption of pasta and 2 years of italian in high school (of which i remembered ciao, and no!). Now its no longer an infatuation, its forever - i'll keep it in my heart. i'm already plotting what region of italy we'll visit next.
in the mean time here are few (blatant lie, prepare to be inundated) pictures documenting my, ahem, our love affair with rome.
one of our favorite neighborhood trattoria's located right around the block from our hotel.
our fancy shamancy five star hotel

enjoying a little vino before our colosseum, forum and palentine walking tour - which by the way was totally worth it. we had the best guide for our semi-private tour, he was a native roman and was very knowledgeable, and an added benefit was we didn't have to wait in those awful lines! we used dark rome tours.
my reasons (ah hem, justifications) for taking a picture of broccoli: 1) its so darn pretty 2) broccoli is one of my favorite veges
our hotel, the suite, as well as the service was impeccable, including the turn down service - complete with chocolates, weather forecast and jazz music.
more travel diaries: our roman holiday edition to come....
