Keep Calm and Carry On

The first time I saw this popular British phrase I was driving in the car running pre-wedding errands. With two weeks to plan our wedding in America and a non existent budget I wasn't exactly feeling calm. I was also aware that this was a time in my life to savor, not lose my mind over. While stopped at a traffic light I spotted a bumper sticker with the saying. Without knowing the history of the phrase, I adopted it as my wedding mantra. Since relocating to England shortly after getting married I quickly discovered the popularity and origin’s of Keep Calm & Carry On, as well it’s many off shoots. It was first introduced during the Second World War on a poster in an effort to boost the morale of the British public. Although I am no longer planning a wedding (thank goodness), I still find this little phrase a very helpful reminder to me to not get my britches in a bunch and enjoy life and maybe you will too.
